Aquatics
The Aquatic Division of the Herndon Community Center has something for everyone regardless of age or experience. It doesn't matter if you are looking to bring in your 6 month old to get them acclimated to the water or for your child to benefit from being involved in the Commanders swim team, we have programs to suit their age and abilities. For our youth we offer a wide variety of classes to either teach them how to swim or how to develop and refine their strokes. We also know that many adults out there want to either learn how to swim or improve their strokes, so we have many adult instructional classes. In addition, we offer Lifeguard Training courses through out the year.
Announcements On Saturday, February 4, the Herndon Community Center will be hosting a dual meet with Loudoun County Day School. The meet will be occuring after hours and will not impact lane usage.
On Saturday, February 25, the Herndon Community Center will be hosting the Jack Corkey Memorial Aquathon. Please click here for information about the event and for the registration form. Lane availability for lap swimming will be limited in the morning due to this event.
Wacky Wednesday - Wednesdays from 1-3pm. Come join us in the pool for great fun and games for the younger crowd. Children not enrolled in full-day school programs (kindergarten and younger) may participate. The training pool will be set aside for kids (must be with an adult in the water) and filled with our wacky water toys. $5 Parent/child, $2 each additional child
Float Night - Third Friday from 6pm until closing. Swampson will be out to play the third Friday of each month except December and January (high school swim season). Play on Swampson or bring your floats and toys and have fun with the whole family.
Please click here to see the latest pool lane usage chart. Revised versions of the lane chart will be published as changes in the pool schedule occur. Please remember that scheduled activities have priority for usage of pool space.
Activities The latest Quarterly Brochure contains the current aquatics offerings at the Herndon Community Center.
The Herndon Commanders is the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department's USA Swimming sanctioned swim team. The Commanders' nine-month program is dedicated to giving each swimmer the opportunity to achieve his/her person goals in an encouraging environment.
The Herndon Halibuts is the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department's Herndon Swim League swim team. The Halibuts two month Summer program is a great introduction to swim team for those who have never tried it and is a great opportunity to keep swimming during the Summer and have fun for those with more experience.
The Design-a-Class program is available if you have been unable to be placed in a swim class of your choice and are free during the weekday afternoons from 1-3pm. Three to five swimmers are needed to schedule a group lesson on the day that fits your schedule. Contact the Aquatic Services Manager at 703-435-6800 x2128 for more details.
May is National Aquatics Month. Help us celebrate at the Herndon Community Center pool. Please check back later for details on this year's event.
