The Herndon Community Center offers several different activities and classes for young ones - ages 6 months to 5 years old:

Preschool Movement Program
Pre-ballet
Kiddie Open Gym
Children's Series
Preschool Play Camp
Farmer's Market Fun Days
Traveling Tots
and a host of Preschool aquatics classes

These progams enable your little ones to get out and interact with other children. Classes like Aquatots are designed to help 6-18 month olds become acclimated to and comfortable in the water. While the Preschool Movement Program is designed to help kids with fitness, rhythm, and develop tumbling skills. Ages are dependent on the class. Kiddie Open Gym
Ages walking-5
Bring your toddler and enjoy open play, tumbling on the mats, and kiddie basketball. This is a great way to socialize your children. Kids can run and exercise in the entire gym. Bring your big wheel on the last Friday of each month for big wheel day, plastic wheels only.

Fit KidsFit kids is not the physical education class you remember from elementary school! This is children's physical fitness and tumbling designed to work on your child's motor skills, flexibility and strength and will develop good hand eye coordination by participating in relays, balance games, tumbling, jumping and obstacle courses. Music and creative movement added to exercise makes exercise playful and fun. Healthy bodies build healthy minds.

Tots and Preschoolers Arts & Crafts

Creative Preschoolers Ages 3-6
Bring out the creativity in your preschooler with this fun and motivating craft class. Come with an adult and have fun experiencing different arts and crafts projects. Each week your child will experience the use of different mediumsto create unique projects. We will paint, draw, collage, and use recycled items. Please have your child wear old clothes.

Art.Smart.Kids Art Expolorers Ages 3-5
Developed for preschool and kindergarten children, this process-focused art class includes a brief history of an artist, movement or artistic medium that is explored through story time, creative play or other visual aids. Art Explorers create their own masterpieces using quality art supplies inspired by the artists they learn about. Key art elements and principles such as texture, color, balance, pattern and movement are explored though a variety of art media including painting, sculpture, collage, and more!

Art.Smart.Kids First Art Ages 18-36 months
A great first introduction to the world of art for toddlers. Each session starts with a story time that engages the child and an art project related to the day's theme. This parent/child class emphasizes process over product and examines the elements of art such as line, shape, color and texture through exploration of a variety of age-appropriate art materials. All projects are open-ended and independent work is encouraged and fostered in this class.

Splatter Paint a Mug Ages 4-12
Paint your very own cocoa mug or make a coffee mug gift for Mom or Dad, while learning a fun and messy painting technique! All supplies and instructions provided. Materials are child safe, food safe and non toxic. Fired and finished items will be ready for pick up at the Herndon Community Center the following Saturday. Classes provided by Clay Café Studios of Chantilly. Additional materials fee of $5, payable to the instructor at class.
