Herndon Parks and Recreation Department, in Fairfax County, Virginia, provides parks and recreation programs and events to meet the diverse interests of our residents and surrounding communities. The department operates the Herndon Community Center, located at 814 Ferndale Avenue, Herndon, VA, 20170. The year-round community center offers:
• Fitness Center and small group training studio
• 3 racquetball courts
• 25-yard indoor heated pool, spa & sauna, and locker rooms
• Full-size gymnasium
• Small Group Fitness Studio
• 6 outdoor and 3 indoor lighted tennis courts
(3 covered for indoor play September - April)
• Personal Training Services
• Child care is available during dedicated hours
• Classes galore - Group Exercise, Wellness, Swimming, Tennis, Gymnastics, Dance, Art, Cooking, Martial Arts and much more
Special events are produced by the department include the Herndon Festival, July 4th Celebration, Labor Day Festival, and Nature Fest. We also oversee the operation of eleven neighborhood parks.
We enrich the lives of our residents, serve as stewards of Town resources, and foster a sense of community by providing diverse, accessible and valued parks, facilities and recreation programs. Parks and Recreation offers physical and leisurely activities for the community, supports the local arts, and collaborates with virtually every community group, building cooperation and cohesiveness in Herndon and surrounding communities.
