Try a class, workout at the Herndon Community Center, or join your friends at a community-wide special event. We are open early and stay late - so start now to improve your health and happiness.
Herndon Community Center will be closed August 28, 29 and September 4 -6.
The center will be open August 30 - September 3 with limited operating hours to only accept registrations for Fall programs/classes, admission sales and passes. Hours will be 8:30am - 5:30pm.
During this period of annual cleaning no facilities will be available for public use and there will be no programs or classes scheduled. For more information please call 703-787-7300.

Effective September 7, 2010 the Herndon Community Center has revised fees for admissions and passes.
The center hours starting September 7, 2010:
Monday - Friday 6am - 9:30pm
Saturday - Sunday 7am - 6pm

 Herndon Parks and Recreation Department, in Fairfax County, Virginia, has been awarded the highest honor in the parks and recreation field, the 2008 Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Parks and Recreation Administration (AAPRA) in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This is the fourth time the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded the Gold Medal (previously in 1981, 1991, and 2001). The department was also a finalist in the competition in 1990 and 2007. The department provides park and recreation programs and events to meet the diverse interests of our residents and surrounding communities. In addition, Herndon Parks and Recreation oversees the operation of the Herndon Community Center, located at 814 Ferndale Avenue, Herndon, VA, 20170. The year-round community center offers:
• State-of-the-art fitness center
• 3 racquetball courts
• 25-yard indoor heated pool, spa & sauna, and locker rooms
• Full-size gymnasium
• Small Group Fitness Studio
• 6 outdoor and 3 indoor lighted tennis courts (3 covered for indoor play September - April)
• Personal Training Services
• Child care is available during dedicated hours
• Classes galore - land and water fitness, swimming, tennis, yoga, dance, art, cooking, and much more
Multiple popular special events are produced by the department including, the Herndon Festival, Labor Day Festival, and Nature Fest. We also oversee the operation of eleven neighborhood parks.
We enrich the lives of our residents, serve as stewards of Town resources, and foster a sense of community by providing diverse, accessible and valued parks, facilities and recreation programs. Parks and Recreation offers physical and leisurely activities for the community, supports the local arts, and collaborates with virtually every community group, building cooperation and cohesiveness in Herndon and surrounding communities.
