Decals
Motor Vehicle Decals
All motor vehicles, trailers, motorcycles and semi trailers normally garaged, stored or parked within the Town limits for more than 30 days are required to display a 2012/2013 decal by November 15, 2012.
Decal applications can be downloaded under related links and mailed with check or money order to:Town of Herndon, Motor Vehicle Decal, P.O. Box 427, Herndon, VA 20172-0427 or you may stop by the Town of Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn Street, Monday-Friday excluding Town holidays.
New Resident Motor Vehicle Decal Application
Individuals who become residents of or entities that become located in the town during the current tax year and who have previously paid a motor vehicle fee to another Virginia locality, the decal fee shall be $0.00 for the one license year, upon submitting proof of payment from another Virginia locality.
Motor Vehicle Decals Fees
Motor vehicle decals purchased between April 15, 2013 and July 1, 2013 shall be one-half of the normal purchase price.
Effective July 1, 2010 - Passenger cars and trucks 4,000 lbs. or less gross weight cost is $25.00
Passenger cars and trucks over 4,000 lbs in gross weight cost is $32.00
Motorcycles are $12.00
Small trailer/boat trailer gross weight less than 5,000 lbs. is $8.00
Larger trailer/boat trailer gross weight greater than 5,000 lbs. $25.00
Military (active duty with currently military ID) is $1.00
Transfer (sticker or receipt must be presented) is $1.00

Personal Property tax
The Town of Herndon does not assess a personal property tax. However, residents of the Town are required to file with the County of Fairfax. For additional information contact Fairfax County at (703)222-8234.
