Street Maintenance
The Street Maintenance and Construction Activity Center is responsible for the maintenance and repair of approximately 128 lane miles of the road system within the Town. Work is completed in accordance with the Virginia Department of Transportation and Town of Herndon standards with maximum emphasis on providiing the safest possible transporation system. Work is completed throughout the year to insure that the internal system of streets, sidewalks and trails are safe and accessible.
The Department of Public Works performs annual repaving of streets throughout the Town. The effort is part of an annual recurring program that helps insure that the streets are maintained to prolong surface life, and a safe travel way for pedestrians and vehicles. During the milling and repaving process, residents will need to park vehicles off the street where the activity is occuring. An annual paving schedule will be posted on the Town's website for your reference as the dates for repaving approach.
