A Message from the Chief
On behalf of the men and women of the Town of Herndon Police Department, I welcome you to our website. Our police department prides itself on being a full-service law enforcement agency, providing 24-hour, 7 days-a-week patrol coverage.
We are nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) as well as state accreditation through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC).
Our mission is to enrich the quality of life and promote a sense of community by providing law enforcement and related services in partnership with the law abiding public. Our core purpose is to preserve the public peace and protect the rights of individuals.
The role of the police is determined by the community it serves; through a partnership with the citizens, the Department improves the quality of life through control and reduction of crime. The police and the community share in the responsibility for crime control and public safety. The agency must seek to collaborate with neighborhoods to better understand the nature of local problems and to develop meaningful and cooperative strategies to solve these problems.
Enjoy exploring our website! We are honored to serve you.
Toussaint E. Summers , Jr., Chief of Police Herndon Police Department 397 Herndon Parkway Herndon , Virginia 20170 Non-emergency: (703) 435-6846
