The Herndon Police Department strives to provide current and relevant information to citizens and the media. It is our belief that an exchange of information promotes the philosophy of community policing, which in-turn leads to a partnership to create positive changes in the community.

This information can be obtained through the following resources:


The Herndon Police Department produces weekly press releases which provide information on police activity according to: MAJOR INCIDENTS,OTHER CRIMES,SERIOUS TRAFFIC RELATED INCIDENTS, ASSIST OTHER AGENCY, MISCELLANEOUS and 287(g) ENFORCEMENT. Within these sections, incidents are organized by Community Policing District, type of offense, and address listed by the hundred block.


The Herndon Police Department prepares press releases for any substantive police activity as the incident necessitates.


The Town of Herndon Police Department participates in the Silent Partner Alert System to provide important information on public safety issues affecting the community. This information includes missing and wanted persons, emergency road closures, press releases and other local emergencies or natural disasters via email, text pager or cell phone email.
