The Explorer Program offers learning opportunities combined with hands-on activities to those interested in the field of law enforcement.  the program is open to young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are at least 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.  Herndon Post #1750 meets at least once a month. The Herndon Police Department has child safety seat inspectors available by appointment to assist in the proper installation of child safety equipment.  An appointment can be arranged by calling 703-435-6881, ext. 2372.  For the most current information on child seats, go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Admistration's web site.
