Herndon Police Department

The Herndon Police Department is dedicated to providing professional law enforcement services through effective police response and intentional community involvement. Our goal is to promptly respond to calls, investigate all incidents and enforce the law. However, public safety is a shared responsibility and through active police/community partnerships, together we can initiate problem solving strategies to address crime and other neighborhood issues that affect everyday life.

The Herndon Police Department is staffed by highly trained officers and civilians who are committed to integrity and professionalism, meeting stringent training requirements and accreditation standards. Colonel Maggie DeBoard, Chief of Police, leads the department, assisted by two Division Commanders, Captain Brad Anzengruber, Field Operations Division and Captain Larry Presgrave, Support Services Division. The department consists of 55 sworn officers and 16 civilians.

We hope you will find the information helpful. Should you need further information, contact us at our non-emergency number,            703-435-6846.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month!

The Town of Herndon and the Herndon Police Department join DRIVE SMART Virginia in supporting Distracted Driving Awareness Month through enforcement.  We call on all drivers in our area to avoid any distraction when they're driving. Many drivers try to multi-task while driving for example, texting, eating, reading, putting on makeup, grooming or talking to passengers.  Distracted drivers, who swerve in their lanes, stop at green lights, disregard red lights, or narrowly miss pedestrians crate a danger for all motorists.  Officers will take appropriate action.

For more information go to the Traffic Section on our website:  www.herndon-va.gov , public safety or www.drivesmartva.org .
