Town Seeks Residents to Serve on Herndon Parkway Advisory Committee

The Herndon Town Council has created an advisory committee to work with neighboring jurisdictions on transportation issues that impact the town and surrounding areas. The council is seeking town residents interested in serving on the committee.

Current and future development in the town and adjacent areas of Fairfax and Loudoun counties will have an impact on travel across jurisdictional lines, including Metrorail, vehicle, bicycle, bus, skateboard and pedestrian traffic. The newly-formed Herndon Parkway Advisory Committee provides a forum for inter-jurisdictional planning to identify transportation concerns and propose solutions.

The initial objectives of the committee will be to identify current and future transportation impacts in the three jurisdictions; develop a proposed policy for council consideration for the use of the Herndon Parkway; and coordinate a list of concerns and proposed solutions for representatives of each jurisdiction to take to their respective government bodies.

The advisory committee will meet as needed.

The Town of Herndon is also seeking applicants interested in serving on the town’s other boards, commissions, and advisory and ad hoc committees. For more information or to update an application already on file, citizens may contact the clerk’s office at (703) 435-6804 or town.clerk@herndon-va.gov.
