Chestnut Grove Cemetery, located at 831 Dranesville Road in Herndon, is a community heritage resource, providing twenty-five acres as an active historic cemetery. Earliest burials in the cemetery date to the 1830s, and the site was formally organized as a cemetery in 1872. The cemetery was deeded to the Town in 1997 from the Chestnut Grove Cemetery Association, which had operated the cemetery from the early 1950s. 

For more information on interment arrangements and perpetual care, call the cemetery office or stop by between Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm excluding some holidays.

National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 17, where live balsam remembrance wreaths will be placed at the graves of fallen veterans at nearly 1,000 locations across the country and overseas. In Herndon, Virginia, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Chestnut Grove Cemetery on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at noon to ensure that the over 725 veterans, who served to protect the freedoms of our country are not, and never will be, forgotten. The ceremony is open to all people.
