Chestnut Grove Cemetery, located at 831 Dranesville Road in Herndon, is a community heritage resource, providing twenty-five acres as an active historic cemetery. Earliest burials in the cemetery date to the 1830s, and the site was formally organized as a cemetery in 1872. The cemetery was deeded to the Town in 1997 from the Chestnut Grove Cemetery Association, which had operated the cemetery from the early 1950s.
For more information on interment arrangements and perpetual care, call the cemetery office or stop by between Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding some holidays.
Chestnut Grove Cemetery will partner with the Herndon Woman's Club to honor our Veterans buried at Chestnut Grove Cemetery by participating in the National Wreaths Across America Day. On Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.we will remember the fallen, the prisoners of war, the missing in action and honor those who have served and are serving our great nation with a short ceremony at noon. Volunteers will then place commemorative wreaths on many graves. A reception will follow. For more information contact the Herndon Woman's Club.
