The Records Section is located at 397 Herndon Parkway, Herndon, Virginia 20170. Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m, Monday through Friday.
During non-business hours, records questions may be directed to the Communications Section on the non-emergency number.
Criminal Records Requests:
Individuals requesting their records must provide two current forms of identification; one must contain a photograph and a date of birth. Criminal record requests include only those arrests that have occurred in the Town of Herndon. In the State of Virginia, complete current checks are only available from Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange.
Police Incident Reports (Incident Verification):
Copies of police reports are released only to law enforcement officers or by subpoena. However, verification of an incident can be obtained from the Records Section by the complainant, victim, or property owner. The verification will include the date and time of the incident, the location of the incident, the type of incident and the reporting officer's name. Incident Verification will generally not be available until at least 24 hours after the report was taken. The request may be made in person, by telephone, email or US mail.
Traffic Accident Reports:
The Records Section maintains copies of all accident reports. These copies are released to the drivers and owners of the vehicles involved, as well as to their attorneys and/or insurance representatives. Reports are also released to persons injured and owners of property damaged as a result of the accident. A request for a copy of an accident report may be made in person, by telephone, email or US mail.
