To Open a Water and Sewer Account
You may start water and sewer service with the Town of Herndon by completing and submitting one of the following forms. All required documentation is listed for each type of application.
Tenants must have an authorization form signed by the landlord or agent prior to establishment of water service in the tenant's name. The authorization form serves as an acknowledgment by the property owner that the tenant is establishing service and any unpaid water bills could result in the property owner being responsible for payment and/or cause a lien to be placed on the landlord's property. The Town will not be held responsible for a delay in water being turned on if the form is not submitted.
There is a $200 deposit for all residential tenant accounts. Deposits are refunded upon closing the account.
We need a minimum of 24 hours notice to start or stop service Monday through Friday. Contact us by 3pm on Friday to start or stop service on the following Monday. We do not initiate or terminate service on weekends and holidays, and your request will be processed on the next business day.
To Close a Water and Sewer Account
Please call or email customer service with your account number, date you want to terminate service and your forwarding address.
All service terminations are processed at the beginning of the day; if you require water service throughout the day please schedule your termination for the next business day.
Failure to terminate your water service will result in the customer being responsible for all water going through the meter until the cutoff has been effected or an application has been made to the Town by a new occupant. (Town Code Sec 74-303)
