Herndon, VA (July 14, 2026) – The Department of Finance for Herndon, Virginia, has earned accreditation from the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia (TAV) for the period of July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. This is the first time the Town of Herndon has earned TAV accreditation.
“The Town of Herndon takes its responsibility as a steward of public funds seriously, and this accreditation reflects that commitment,” said Dan Hoffman, Herndon’s Town Manager. “I am proud to see our finance team recognized for their dedication to excellence, ethics, and sound financial management. Their work is foundational for every service we deliver to the community, and this achievement highlights the professionalism and integrity they bring to that responsibility each day.”
The Treasurers’ Association of Virginia’s accreditation program is voluntary and requires annual renewal. While it is not required for any treasurer’s office to be accredited, receiving accreditation acknowledges that the office meets best practices for performance in treasury management. Less than 24% of Virginia’s towns, cities, and counties hold TAV accreditation.
“All of these offices represent the high standards of excellence and integrity that our Association is dedicated to maintaining,” states Bonnie Dickson, President of the Treasurers’ Association. “We are honored to recognize the commitment and hard work of the 77 offices that have attained accreditation this year, as they exemplify the quality and professionalism that we strive for in our field.”
As part of the accreditation process, offices must successfully pass an outside audit with no findings of material weakness, provide proof of continuing ethics education, and maintain written policies addressing areas such as personnel, customer service, and delinquent collections.
