Town of Herndon, VA
Home MenuTown of Herndon Citizens' and Business Survey
A full 86.6% of town citizens are satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of life in the Town of Herndon, according to a telephone survey conducted on the town’s behalf by Priority Metrics Group (PMG). Further, 75 percent of businesses reported satisfaction with the quality of life in the town.
In April 2018, PMG conducted the survey of 300 citizens, asking for opinions on a range of topics including customer service at town facilities, the condition of town streets and parks, satisfaction with town services and more. Citizens were randomly selected to participate in the survey; both landlines and cell phones were contacted. Because scientific selection techniques were used in conducting the survey, the results represent the views and opinions of Herndon residents and would vary only slightly from a complete census.
For the first time, businesses in the town were also surveyed; a total of 150 businesses were asked for opinions on the town as a location for doing business and town government services.
Town services that ranked particularly well in the survey included professionalism of the Herndon Police Department, quality of water and sewer, variety of activities and automated trash/recycling collection. Businesses noted particular satisfaction with cleanliness of town streets and attractions available in the town. Areas of improvement included traffic congestion, speed of response by town employees and, for businesses, the level of taxation. Survey results will be used to budget town resources in ways that citizens and businesses have indicated are priorities for them.
