Town of Herndon Volunteer Process
The Town of Herndon Volunteer Process begins by the prospective volunteer(s) completing an application form. Please read ALL of the details below and familiarize yourself with our Volunteer Background Information page before applying so that you are aware of the town's requirements.
Individual Volunteer Application Form (individual applicant)
Group Volunteer Application Form (designated member applying on behalf of a group; youth or adult)
Once the form is received and processed by Staff, you will be sent an 'Town of Herndon Volunteer Process' email with links for our background screening/training.
In order to protect our patrons, community members, and employees, the Town of Herndon requires mandatory background screening/training for volunteers age 19 and older. All background screenings are conducted by an outside vendor. Volunteer’s private information is never viewed by Town of Herndon employees. Click here for additional details.
NOTE: Please do not forward the ‘Town of Herndon Volunteer Process’ email to other possible groups or volunteers. An Individual (or Group) Volunteer Application Form is the only way to initiate the process. Any applicant who submits a waiver only, or proceeds directly to the background vendor, will not be processed.
The final step for the Town of Herndon's Volunteer Process is submitting a Volunteer Waiver before beginning their volunteer service.
For volunteers under the age of 18, the waiver is to be signed by a legal parent or guardian. No background check is performed for volunteers age 18 and younger.
This process and waiver are valid for 12 months. After the 12 months have passed, to continue volunteering for the Town, you will need to repeat the process again to continue volunteering.
