Seven Town Council-appointed Town residents serve on the Planning Commission, which is responsible for making critical planning and zoning recommendations to the Town Council.
The ARB, mostly comprised of Town residents appointed by the Town Council, reviews the design of non-residential new construction and building alterations town-wide.
This Board, which consists of the five ARB members in addition to two additional members, is responsible for the review of applications for Certificates of Appropriateness for new construction, alteration, and renovation projects within the Heritage Preservation overlay districts.
The BZA is comprised of five Town Council-appointed Town residents. The BZA hears appeals of Zoning Administrator Determinations and Variances.
Current advisory committees established by the Town Council include the Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Committee, Historic Marker Committee and the Herndon Economic Development Advisory Committee.
