Due to COVID-19 emergency measures, the Herndon Municipal Center has been closed to the public.  If you wish to submit an application for a zoning permit, special exception, ARB or HPRB application, BZA application or other submittal, please call (703) 787-7380 or email community.development@herndon-va.gov.

Application for Temporary Outdoor Dining


Board and Commission Meeting Information

The April 15, 2020 Heritage Preservation Review Board (HPRB) and Architectural Review Board (ARB) public hearing will occur using a video web conference platform.  To access that meeting please use the link at the top of the Town's Agendas & Minutes webpage.  

Until further notice Planning Commission, HPRB, ARB, and Board of Zoning Appeal meetings will not be held in accordance with the Governor's stay at home order.  

 

Submitting an Application


The yellow dropbox located outside the front doors of the Herndon Municipal Center should be used for dropping off or picking up application submissions.  Please notify us after dropping off applications to ensure prompt pick-up by department staff.  Please click here to see the dropbox flyer with more information.


Scheduling Meetings & Pre-Application Conferences

The department is continuing to hold necessary meetings and pre-application conferences via telephone or video conference. Please contact us at community.development@herndon-va.gov to schedule meetings and/or pre-application conferences.


Temporary Sign Policy 


The Zoning Administrator has outlined temporary procedures and standards for the installation of temporary signs on non-residentially zoned properties during the Town declared local state of emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic. Please view the attached document for temporary sign procedures and standards during the local declared state of emergency.

 

Herndon Farmer's Market

The opening of the Herndon farmers market has been postponed.  An opening date has not been determined at this time.  The Herndon farmers market is a joint effort between the Town of Herndon and Fairfax County.  Town staff continues to work with Fairfax County to determine when the market may open.
