Beginning in September of 2025, the Town established a Public Tree Fund.  This fund allows individuals, businesses, organizations, and other outside groups to contribute towards the planting of public trees within the Town of Herndon. 

How it Works

Donations can be provided in person, by-mail, or by-phone (if done by credit card) to the Department of Community Development.  A service to permit direct online donations will be available soon.  Donations should be accompanied with the donors name(s), contact information, and any specific information associated with the reason for the donation.    

Once provided, a letter of receipt and recognition will be issued by the Town Manager.  Further recognition is given on the fund's dedicated webpage and by the town at its annual Arbor Day event.  Dependent on the success of this program, the town is evaluating the installation of a public-facing donor tree display with engraved plaques for donors.
