Preservation Program Announcements

Join staff from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to learn how state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits can help support improvements to your property. This workshop will cover program basics, the application process, and how projects can meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. You can view an event flyer here.

Modifying Or Improving A Historic District Property?

Consult the Process Guide and Reference Guide, then complete the Historic District Property Modification Form, and email it to historicdistrict@herndon-va.gov.  Town staff will review and verify whether the proposed modification is exempt from any review or requires either staff review or Historic District Review Board review.    

Most applications for property modifications are reviewed by staff however the larger change are reviewed by Historic District Review Board.  The Historic District Review Board (HDRB) page contains information on that board and the board meetings.
