Fairfax Connector is making route and schedule changes in coordination with the opening of the Metrorail Silver Line Phase II. These changes may impact all bus route locations, times of operation, and frequency of buses within Herndon. Currently, the Preferred Plan bus route changes are in review. PUBLIC INPUT is requested to evaluate these changes. To review the route changes and provide input visit the project page on the Fairfax Connector website. TRANSIT SERVICE OPERATING IN TOWN INCLUDE:
The Fairfax Connector bus service provides local and feeder service connecting commercial and residential areas within Herndon as well connecting to destinations outside of town such as Metrorail and Reston Town Center.
Metrobus bus service withe the 5A route provides service to/from DC and Dulles Airport
Metrorail rail service is provided via the Silver Line Phase I with rail connects through the entire DC metro area. The nearest station, Wiehle-Reston East Station in Reston, can be accessed via several Herndon bus routes. Phase II of the Silver Line, set to open in 2020 will bring the Metrorail into Herndon in 2020. Herndon will have three Metrorail Stations near the town limits including the Herndon Station.
