Home MenuPark Avenue/Monroe Street Intersection
The intersection of Park Avenue and Monroe Street has a history of property damage crashes on both the northwest and southwest quadrants of the intersection. This project will add enhanced signage and adjust roadway geometrics to improve conspicuity of the horizontal curve and aid maneuverability through the curve. Traffic calming elements will also be considered to encourage slower vehicle travel speeds.
Anticipated Project Benefits:
• Creates a more consistent curve radius
• Improves curve conspicuity and aid driver awareness
• Add visual traffic calming
The community was invited to join town staff on Thursday, June 13, 2024 to explore this project along with Ferndale Avenue and share their thoughts with us to help shape the direction of our initiative as we work toward making improvements.
As a follow up to the meeting, we have compiled a summary of comments received during the meeting, along with the PowerPoint that was presented.
The project is currently funded and anticipated to take place in Spring 2026. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments: public.works@herndon-va.gov or (703) 435-6853.
