From first-time athletes learning the fundamentals to participants looking to advance their skills, our programs provide supportive environments focused on movement, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.

Sports

Junior Soccer: Little Kickers

Ages 4–6

A fun introduction to soccer for young athletes! Through imaginative games and activities, participants practice kicking, running, teamwork, and basic soccer fundamentals while developing confidence and a love for being active.

Instruction provided by Overtime Athletics.

Introduction to Gymnastics

Ages 3–5

Jump, roll, balance, and move! This introductory class helps young participants develop coordination, balance, listening skills, and body control while learning foundational gymnastics movements in a structured environment.

Beginner Gymnastics

Ages 5–9

Build on the basics and take gymnastics skills to the next level. Participants develop power, coordination, and body control while working on skills such as jumps, pullovers, back walkovers, cartwheels, and landings using gymnastics equipment.

Basketball Basics

Ages 7–12

Designed for newer players, Basketball Basics introduces dribbling, passing, shooting, and other fundamental skills through instruction and play. Participants also develop teamwork, confidence, and an appreciation for the game.

Martial Arts

Kendo Fundamentals

Ages 13 & Up

Discover Kendo, the Japanese art of fencing. Beginners learn foundational techniques including etiquette, footwork, and basic strikes while exploring a martial art focused on connecting mind, body, and spirit. No previous experience is necessary.

Led by Washinkan Kendo Dojo instructors.

Kendo

Ages 13 & Up

Designed for participants who have completed Kendo Fundamentals, this more rigorous program advances technique and prepares students for continued development in the art of Kendo. Instructor approval and appropriate equipment are required.

Led by Washinkan Kendo Dojo instructors.

Shotokan Karate

Ages 6–13

Develop strength, flexibility, focus, and self-defense skills through Shotokan Karate. Participants learn blocking, punching, striking, kicking, and other techniques within the disciplined and structured environment of traditional martial arts.

Parent & Guardian Information

To encourage independence and create a focused learning environment, parents and guardians remain outside the classroom during youth programs. Observation opportunities will be offered at designated times during the session.

Families requiring special consideration should contact the Parks & Recreation Department to speak with the Recreation Program Supervisor.
