Training, enforcement, and educational outreach initiatives are components of the Department's ongoing efforts to prevent child occupant injury and death.  Herndon Police Department wants to ensure that all children are properly restrained according to their age and size each time they travel in a motor vehicle.  The Department partners with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in campaigns to increase the correct use of child safety seats, booster seats and safety belts.

The Herndon Police Department has child safety seat inspectors available by appointment to assist in the proper installation of child safety seat equipment.  This service is open to those who reside inside Town of Herndon limits.
