All work performed in the Town of Herndon's Right-Of-Way requires a permit. A permit must be issued prior to commencement of any work. This assures all work is completed in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines. Also, the permitting process allows Public Works to ensure restoration is completed in a timely manner. All utility companies and their subcontractors who work within the Town's Right-Of-Way are monitored for compliance of installation standards. Contacting Miss Utility prior to digging is the law.  Please the Miss Utility website at for more information or call 811.

Please contact the Town Shop at (703) 435-6860 for information on obtaining a Right-of-Way Permit.   Please send your completed application to  Application fees and other payments for permits are being accepted over the phone by contacting our Finance Department at (703) 435-6813. 

Review time frames suspended and plan, plat, permit, and other expiring deadlines remain valid for 60 days following the end of town declared state of emergency.  Questions concerning this amendment can be addressed to or call (703) 435-6853.
