All prospective individual volunteer(s) and/or volunteer groups planning to volunteer for the town must:

  1. Read and familiarize themselves with ALL of the Volunteer Background Screening Information page before applying so that they are aware of the town's requirements.
  2. Complete an Individual Volunteer Application Form or Group Volunteer Application Form (designated member applying on behalf of a group; youth or adult). Please allow at least two business days for the Town to process the application.
  3. Submit the required Volunteer Waiver after submitting your Application. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have their waiver completed and signed by a legal parent or guardian.

These applications do not guarantee the applicant will volunteer for the Town. Additionally, a Background Screening may be required, depending on the volunteer tasks for which they applied. Applicants will be notified if they meet those requirements.

The Application and Waiver are valid for 12 months. After the 12 months have passed, to continue volunteering for the Town, you will need to re-submit the Application and Waiver.

NOTE: Our forms are processed through Adobe Sign. Once you have confirmed your email you will receive another email. Your submitted application is attached to this email and you do not have to open the agreement by clicking the link "Open agreement" from "Town of Herndon IT via Adobe Acrobat Sign adobesign@adobesign.com".
