Due to changes in Fairfax County recycle collection, effective immediately the town will no longer accept glass recyclables. The town is considering options: in the meantime, please reuse glass containers, recycle at county purple containers, or place glass in trash for collection. More information:
The Heritage Preservation Review Board (HPRB) consists of seven local citizens appointed by the Town Council. Of the members, one is required to be an architect and another is required to have historic preservation experience and knowledge.
The HPRB holds its public hearings on the third Wednesday of each month and work sessions are held on the first Wednesday, unless altered by a holiday schedule. Application deadlines are generally 30 days before the public hearing.
Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the Herndon Council Chambers Building located at 765 Lynn Street, Herndon, Virginia.
reviewing applications for and issuing Certificates of Appropriateness for exterior alterations, additions, new construction, and demolition to buildings and structures located within the Heritage Preservation Overlay Districts.
advising the Planning Commission on the appropriateness of any proffered elevations proposed as part of a Zoning Map Amendment within the Heritage Preservation Overlay Districts.
