The Herndon Community Center Preschool is a state-licensed program, which is designed to stimulate your child's mind and development. Professional staff will provide a nurturing environment for ages 3-5. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. Children must be potty-trained and use of disposable undergarments is not permitted. Our goal is to foster independence in a school setting. The teacher-child ratio is 3:20. The 4-5 year old class emphasis is on the skills needed to enter kindergarten. The classroom schedule includes field trips, outside free-play, music and movement, and beginning yoga. Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is ongoing. 

Preschool Open House and Registration* for 2019-2020 School Year  

Exciting new changes coming to the Herndon Community Center Preschool. Learn more at our Open House on Tuesday, February 19 from 6-7:30pm and the inclement weather date is Wednesday, February 20 at the same time. Registration starts Tuesday, February 19. 

Now ages 4 & 5 will meet daily Monday through Friday, 9am-12pm, with an emphasis on skills needed to enter kindergarten, plus field trips, outside free play, music, swimming and holiday activities to celebrate diversity in our classroom. Children must be 4 by September 30, 2019. 

Preschool Prep will focus on ages 3 & 4 and they will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3pm.  
Our interactive, play-based curriculum fosters your child’s sense of responsibility and independence through daily activities. Parents and children love our outdoor courtyard for play, games, and arts & crafts, while enjoying on-site access to a full-sized gymnasium, large outdoor playground and indoor swimming pool.  
The class will run September 9-June 12 (generally following Fairfax County Public School schedule)

Our Facility

Our location at the Herndon Community Center provides many unique opportunities for great indoor and outdoor play no matter what the weather. A full-service gymnasium and indoor pool are steps away from our classroom.

Preschool Inclement Weather 

Our preschool program follows Fairfax County Public Schools closings but with a slight modification. If schools have a 1-hour delay, we open our preschool on time and if there is a 2-hour delay our preschool will open one hour late.
