• Pay by mail

  If you send your payment and bill stub in the envelope we provide, our revenue division will post your payment to your account on the business day it is received. If you do not include your bill stub, you must provide your account number with your payment. Please do not mail cash.

• Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Payment Program (Water Bills)

  EFT is a simple way to pay your Water and Sewer bill automatically from your bank account.  Participation is free. Please use the Town of Herndon Utilities Access portal to sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer. Click here. Once there, click on Water & Sewer. Log in to access your account and then click "Enroll in auto pay" to begin the process. If you need assistance with getting this set up, please call 703-435-6814 and we will be happy to help.

  **If you had previously signed up for Electronic funds transfer using the paper form and voided copy of a check, please contact us at 703-435-6814 to assist you. Otherwise, you may encounter an error.**

• Pay in person

  You may bring your bill and payment to the Herndon Municipal Center at 777 Lynn Street, 1st Floor, Herndon, VA 20170 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Cash, check, credit/debit cards, and money orders are accepted.

• Pay Online

  Click the link above to access the Town of Herndon payment portal to pay.

• Pay through your own financial institution (Bill Pay or Online Banking)

  The Town of Herndon will accept payments made through your financial institution online banking service or bill pay. If you choose to use this method, please be aware of some very important points:

  • You must update the remittance address in your online banking program to Town of Herndon, 777 Lynn Street, Herndon, VA 20170.  Do not use the old PO Box 427 address. 
  • These payments may not be received electronically. It can take anywhere from 5-15 days for the town to receive your payment even if your bank has removed the funds from your bank account.
  • To ensure timely receipt of your payment, and to avoid late payment penalties, you must authorize the payment in enough time for the town to receive it on or before the due date printed on the bill.   
  • To ensure your payment is posted properly, you must provide your water account number on the check.
  • For account information, contact Water and Sewer Billing customer service.

  Because of the time delay, we do not recommend this payment method for your water and sewer bill if your water service is due to be disconnected.

• Phone payments (Water Bills)

  This option is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, by calling 703-435-6814, and providing your water account number and your customer number. You will be given a confirmation number after payment has been processed. Please note a 3.5% ($2.50 minimum) transaction fee will be applied to the total charged to your card for card payments.

• Use our Drop Box after business hours

  A secure night depository box is located outside the Herndon Municipal Center at 777 Lynn Street, which is accessible 24 hours a day. Please note that payments placed in the drop box will not be posted until the next business day.

• Water bill E-Notification

  To sign up for email notification of your water and sewer bill, please contact customer service and provide your account number and valid e-mail address.
